The Final Countdown
By Matthew Stefanski
The countdown has begun: 48 days, 23 hours, 49 minutes and 30 seconds. No, it’s not the countdown to the end of the world. Frankly, this is the countdown to the distribution of the first official edition of The Victory Voice. What’s the big deal about the first issue of a newspaper? I’ll let you ‘read all about it.’
Countless hours of work, determination, recruiting and planning. From talking to editors at other schools to contracting with a printer, myself and Managing Editor Sam Weiler have taken on many different administrative duties.
The Victory Voice will be 6-8 pages in length and contain a wide variety of sections such as local news, school news, features, columns and sports. There will also be a variety of fun, engaging sections such as crosswords or advice columns.
Some of you may ask, “Why are we starting a student newspaper?” Well, the answer is simple. We want to provide news and information to the school community and make Victory Christian Academy well-known throughout Northwest Indiana. We also want want The Victory Voice to become a successful source of news and information to our student body.
Recently, we have put out three preliminary editions to present readers with relevant school information as well as tease the first full edition of The Victory Voice.
Christmas is right around the corner, but another important date isn’t that far away. Feb. 2, 2012; the start of your student publication!
